SolidBase
Construction operations, from site photos to signed handover.

Overview
An Arabic-first platform that runs a contracting company in one auditable system: projects, field work, costs, suppliers, documents and the client relationship. It comes as three apps (staff, client and field) over one backend.
It started from a one-page concept and grew into a full construction management system. Scope was discovered with the client while building, adding twelve capability areas beyond the original outline.
Staff work in a web console, project owners follow progress in their own portal, and site teams use a mobile app that keeps working offline. Each app sees exactly the slice of data it should. Internal budgets, staff and costs never reach the client.
Under the hood
The features that took real engineering
- 01
Two-dimensional permissions
There are 96 permissions across 17 resources. Each one has an "own projects" and a "whole company" version, so a project manager has full control of their projects and no view into a sibling's. Granting a write permission also grants the read permissions it depends on.
- 02
Proof before "done"
A task can't be completed without photo evidence, optionally geo-tagged. Review-gated tasks can't be self-approved: the server rejects it, not just the UI.
- 03
Cost performance, computed
Bills of quantities link to a material catalogue. The system tracks planned against actual spend and computes a cost performance index for each project, category and phase. Progress rolls up from weighted phases instead of being typed in by hand.
- 04
OTP-confirmed handovers & payments
Clients confirm project handover and payment receipt with one-time codes, with limited attempts. That gives a clear record for the moments that usually end in disputes.
- 05
Supplier price intelligence
Material price history for each supplier, trend analysis and side-by-side price comparison inform every purchase.
- 06
Budget alerts & approval chains
Contracts can be paid in installments, each moving through seven approval states with proof of payment. Alerts fire once at 80, 95 and 100 percent of the budget.
- 07
Offline field app
Site actions queue on the device and sync when the connection comes back, with alerts when data gets stale. Notifications go out in the app, by email, on WhatsApp and as push.
- 08
Full audit trail
Every change to a major record is logged at field level, with old and new values, who made it and from where.
